Today’s missive is a quick one! I have spent the last full week away from my day job and working full-time on The Bloodfields at Blackstar Station (which the main zine is now writing, editing, playtesting, and layout COMPLETE), but just before that I knocked out an adventure I did I had all the way back in early February.
Sean McCoy once said Mothership combat shouldn't be about fighting 20 goblins in a day like DnD but more like fighting "one goblin with a knife" and your whole crew almost dying - so I made an adventure based entirely around that concept!
ICARUS STATION sees players boarding a solar monitoring station on a mission to rescue any living crew and deal with strange reports of a deadly entity onboard: a goblin with a knife!
You can get it on ITCH and DRIVETHRU RPG for $1.99 (w/ community copies available on Itch)!
If you get a chance to read or play the module, I’d love to hear how it went! You can find me, as always, at @MeatCastleGW on Twitter.
The next Missive coming down the pipeline is going to be digging further into my experience over this last week really nailing down the layout for The Bloodfields at Blackstar Station. I am still EXTREMELY new to layout, graphic design, Affinity Publisher, and more so there was a lot to learn and I’m already thinking about how I could improve the process next time, plus what aspects I really enjoy and what parts were a slog.
I am SO PLEASED with how it turned out (there were a handful of changes made even after the recent tweets and gifs that make it stronger still, I think) and am relieved to have this next step of the Kickstarter campaign behind me. Next up is finishing writing on Ultimate Badass - which will likely have a Missive of it’s own!
MORE COOL STUFF
Roque Romero (The Bloodfields artist) contributed art for a really rad Cy_Borg class that just released as a pay-what-you-want title over on Itch this week. Go grab it!

An amazing TTRPG bundle is availabe now over on Itch raising funds for reproductive rights after it become clear over the last few weeks that abortion rights are being actively taken away for those of us in America. I missed submitting anything for this one, but it’s got so much good stuff and it’s money that’s going to a vital cause. Grab it at the link below!

Logan Dean made a TTRPG based off Tremors. Does he have the rights to do so? No, not at all, but we should support that kind of copyright nonchalance.

That’s all for now! Go play Citizen Sleeper (best game I’ve played in a year or two), have a good weekend, and thanks for reading!
